A wet and extremely windy start to the MK10K Race Series, but what else should we expect for January?

79 runners started the 1-lap course in the dark, but it was far from chilly at 10 degrees…practically summer for those runners who took part in the MK Winter Half Marathon last month!

We had athletes from Redway Runners, Marshall Milton Keynes Athletics Club, Wootton Road Runners, Northampton Road Runners, Mayhem Fitness and MK Lakeside Runners to name but a few clubs and saw loads of new and old faces taking part in this new race series.

Taking the podium for the females we had Victoria Kirschner-Heavens in first place with a time of 48:51, Sophia Hannelly in second with 50:45 and Emily Bousfield in third with 50:45 – only .480 of a second separating the ladies.

For the males we had David Haylett with a lightning-quick time of 36:17, followed by Will Shippin 38:23 and Jack Diamond 38:35.

Series prizes will be awarded to the top 3 males and females at our last event in November, where their quickest 3 races will determine who takes the top spot.

Catch us next month at the MK5K Race Series on Tuesday 7th February or Tuesday 7th March for our next 10K race.
